Nepal Water Conservation Foundation (NWCF) organized 56th Pani Satsang on the Water Crisis from the Standpoint of Women’s Rights at Yalamaya Kendra Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur on May 13, 2019. Dr. Kalyani Menon-Sen was the speaker at the program.
Dr. Kalyani Menon-Sen is a feminist researcher and activist who has been working for over 25 years on issues of women’s rights, particularly the impacts of neoliberal economic policies on women, and has contributed to critiques of urbanisation policies in India and is closely involved with struggles against eviction and dispossession of the working poor in Delhi.
Dr. Kalyani spoke at the Satsang moderated by Mr, Dipak Gyawali and presented facts, figures and factors of women deprivations especially due to water crisis. She highlighted the impacts of neo-liberal economic policies on women and urged for change in macroeconomic policies, and communities who are directly experiencing a crisis of survival.
Policy makers, development workers, gender activists, academia and media participated in the program.
